ERV, HRV, exhaust systems
Modern homes are built tight—great for energy bills, terrible for air quality. Without mechanical ventilation, CO2, humidity, cooking odors, and VOCs accumulate. Opening windows works in spring and fall, but Chicago's winters and summers make that impractical. You need controlled ventilation that works year-round.
We install ERV (energy recovery ventilator) and HRV (heat recovery ventilator) systems that exchange stale indoor air for fresh outdoor air while transferring heat between the streams. In winter, outgoing warm air preheats incoming cold air. In summer, the process reverses. You get fresh air without throwing away the energy you paid to condition it.
The right system depends on your home and climate needs. HRVs work best in heating-dominated climates. ERVs also transfer humidity, which helps in summer. We integrate either with your existing ductwork or install dedicated fresh air distribution. Bathrooms and kitchens get spot exhaust. The whole house breathes better.
