Basement water management
Chicago basements and water don't mix. Spring thaws, summer storms, and rising water tables push groundwater against your foundation. A working sump pump is the last line of defense between dry storage and a flooded mess. If your pump is old, undersized, or making strange noises, replacement before it fails is far cheaper than water damage remediation.
We install primary sump pumps sized for your pit's inflow rate, not just the cheapest unit from the hardware store. The discharge line routes away from your foundation—not dumping water three feet from the house to seep right back in. A check valve prevents backflow. And because pumps only fail during storms when you need them most, we strongly recommend battery backup systems that keep pumping when the power goes out.
For homes with serious water issues, we install dual-pump systems: a primary pump for normal operation and a backup that activates if the primary fails or gets overwhelmed. Water-powered backup pumps provide indefinite protection without battery replacement. We assess your basement's history and water intrusion patterns to recommend the right level of protection.
