Aging parents or adult children need genuine privacy—their own kitchen, bathroom, and living area with a separate entrance when possible. Without careful planning, you end up with awkward shared spaces and constant conflicts over schedules, noise, and territory.
In-law suite construction requires coordinating multiple systems: plumbing for a new kitchen and bath, electrical service adequate for independent living, and HVAC that can be controlled separately. We design for accessibility from the start—wider doorways, grab bars in bathrooms, and step-free entries where feasible. Chicago zoning and building codes have specific requirements for accessory dwelling units that we navigate on your behalf.
