Gold Coast, Chicago · 2021
As a bit of a permitting ordeal, the client hired the CRDG Team to tackle violations and code compliance with the City of Chicago for their previously existing roof deck.
Due to varying structural loads throughout the roof, alternating substructures were required to create the new 1,600 SF roof deck via pedestals, aluminum joists, and a steel superstructure.
The entire deck is covered in a Unilock porcelain tile and allows for multiple group gatherings with the elevated space overlooking the lake being the client's favorite area.
Ipe cladding gave warmth to the alcove where several residents enjoy outdoor TV watching.
